4C Horizontal Mailbox Use and Regulations

As of 2006, all new construction, new mailbox applications, and major renovation sites using centralized wall-mounted USPS mail delivery are required to use a 4C mailbox system. To follow the USPS installation requirements, your 4C Mailbox system should not exceed 67″ from the finished floor to the top row of locks, and must be at least 28″ from the finished floor to the bottom of the lowest tenant compartment. An exception can be made and this dimension can be minimized as low as 15″ if the lower compartments are 4C Mailbox Parcel Lockers.

Parcel Locker Requirements

The USPS requires at least one Parcel Locker for every 10 mailbox compartments. So, if your project requires 100 mailboxes then you will need at least 10 parcel lockers with a minimum size of 15″H x 12″W x 15″D. With the rise in online retail and package delivery we recommend having at least one Parcel Locker for every 6 mailboxes. Decals: All 4C modules come standard with silver adhesive decals which are 1-1/2″H x 1-3/4″W. Black lettering can contain up to five characters (alpha and/or numeric) per decal.

Engraving: Custom engraving uses the USPS Standard US Block font and is 3/4″ tall. All engraving can include up to 12 characters on one or two lines.
